Fairgrounds Coffee + Tea
Yup, we are jumping on this bandwagon. Milwaukee has been buzzing about the new coffee shop in town, so naturally I had to stop in and check it out for myself. When I first heard of Fairgrounds my initial thought was, “Good grief, as if Milwaukee needs another coffee shop!” In my neighborhood alone I can count at least 6 different coffee joints! But, alas, I was wrong and Milwaukee did in fact need this little addition to our coffee culture.
I headed over to Fairgrounds last Thursday afternoon thinking it would be a great time to grab some photos without too many people and just enjoy a quiet afternoon, sipping on a beverage. I was honestly shocked to see this place packed! They have several seating options including countertops, lounge chairs and large tables - even the option of wooden swings if you fancy that sort of thing! The vibe is bright with funky light fixtures and pops of color.
They have a huge food menu and I wish I would have ordered a late lunch when I stopped by (just another excuse to go back I guess!) The Huevos Rancheros Breakfast Tacos looked exceptionally delish, as did every single bakery item I laid my eyes on. In the mood of a sammie? They’ve got it. Going for a healthier salad option? No problem. Literally SO many tasty options that I can’t wait to try out. The drink menu is also stellar. My “to try” list includes the Butterscotch Chai: Butterscotch infused Chai Tea, Salted Caramel, Cinnamon and the Spiced Pear Matcha Latte: Matcha, Spiced Pear, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Almond Milk. Gah! Sounds so good!
But the true reason I am obsessed with this place is, of course, the coffee. One of the main reasons I wanted to start a blog was to share all my favorite things about Milwaukee with my friends who live here and anyone who may be visiting. One of my passions is being able to give good recommendations of places I’ve eaten at and loved. Fairgrounds has provided me the opportunity to not only share my Milwaukee favorites, but amazing coffees from other places around the country that I simply adore. They have a coffee program that highlights roasts from all over the dang place! Stumptown, out of Portland (I tried Nitro brew for the first time at one of their cafes in Seattle and dang near died of happiness) and Frothy Monkey from Nashville - literally right here in my own city. If you do nothing else here, TRY THESE COFFEES!
This is a seriously great addition to downtown. Definitely what this particular neighborhood needed and an overall awesome new spot to grab a meal or a coffee on the go. Even with all the coffee shops in my immediate area, I will certainly have no problem making a little trek fort this tasty new coffee heaven.
